The Shipwrights Arms is a traditional thatched pub, located directly on to the iconic Helford Creek which flows into Falmouth Bay. The pub has been extended in recent years to provide additional seating with a more contemporary feel. Oak and slate flag floors, large log burner, individually selected furniture and interesting decorative style with a nautical feel make it the most perfect location to enjoy a drink or of course a meal. An additional eighty covers are located on the exterior terraces, all with amazing views down the river. An outside Pizza station takes the weight off the kitchen during high season, hand rolled and cooked in a stone base oven.
FOOD STYLE
Our menu is ever changing rather than set plus specials, menus are printed daily.
All members of the kitchen team are encouraged to be involved in the menu creation, suggesting meal options, themes and style.
All meals are planned, prepared and produced in the pub kitchen, we do not buy in ready to use food options.
Our main suppliers of meat, fish & vegetables are based in Cornwall. We also deal with local producers and suppliers, Crab and fish landed outside the pub, vegetables from local growers up the road, lizard cows milk ice cream and so on.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for additional Chefs to join our existing team, newly trained and /or experienced candidates will be considered. Enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive work ethic is vital.
You will be a team player but at the same time have the confidence to to take individual responsibility for many aspects of running a kitchen (training will be given)
We are looking in the main for full time applicants however we would consider part time. Immediate start along with later in the season, please provide information on your application.
Pay is by hour, above minimum rate based on age and experience along with equal share of tips and work time meals.
From April we will be able to offer accommodation on a farm within walking distance, own car is an advantage.
Helford Village is an amazing place to spend your days off, kayaking, sailing, rowing, walking or just relaxing.
