Second Site for London’s Butterscotch Bakery

Next month sees the launch of a second home for the Butterscotch Bakery in London, as Bea Vo opens the doors to the Butterscotch Tea Room on James Street.

The new opening will be split over two floors; the first will be home to a relaxed café space dotted with footstools and window bench seating, perfect for on-the-go coffee, cakes and Bea’s signature bakes alongside the second instalment of Bea’s Goldilocks porridge bar.

The main staircase will lead to the afternoon tea room, a space adorned with white marble tables, a hand-made paper flower wall feature and accentuated by tones of copper, gold and rose gold with desserts such as a deconstructed Banoffee Pie with Toasted Banana Bread wafers carefully suspended from the ceiling.

“I’m so excited to unveil a whole new space for afternoon tea in town,” says Bea. “It’s my absolute favourite British tradition, and our take will put a modern spin on it, from the recipes to the aesthetic – it’s going to be anything but quintessential.

“I want people to feel like they can come to Butterscotch for a good time, whether it’s a cocktail and a slice of cake or a full blown affair with all the trimmings.”

Sitting down to afternoon tea, guests can enjoy a selection of sandwiches such as Roasted Aubergine, Romesco and Rocket and a British classic, Smoked Salmon and Herbed Mascarpone, sweeter treats including a Vegan Chocolate Mousse Pot and a Butterscotch pudding with Sea Salt Caramel, a selection of mini meringues, brownies and freshly baked madeleines.

No afternoon tea would be complete without the staple of freshly baked scones which Bea will serve with Cornish clotted cream and jam.

In addition to afternoon tea, early risers can start the day off right with the Poppy Morning Tea, from £13.50, including mini smashed avocado on toast, toasted crumpets and more whilst evening customers can relax with the Jasmine Evening Tea, bookings taken from 6.30pm to 10pm, including Bakewell Fizz Prosecco cocktails, a prosecco-based twist on the classic Negroni, charcuterie and cheese plates and crostini.

Butterscotch Tea Room opens on February 15.
