Steve Pidgeon – Arundell Arms

Steve began training at Exeter College when he left school in 1992. He was amongst the first class to begin a course which involved NVQ training. Whilst at college Steve got a job for work experience in a gastro pub just outside of Exeter. His true goal in life was to become a police officer, but as they didn’t accept applicants until the age of 18 Steve decided to train as a Chef instead.

It was during Steve’s time at the gastro pub that his true passion for food and cooking was ignited. Once Steve’s NVQ level 1 was complete he decided to continue with his training and finally completed levels 1, 2 & 3 in NVQ.

Once Steve’s training was complete he started work in The Imperial Hotel in Torquay which at the time was a 5 star hotel. Steve stayed there for a year and a half before relocating and beginning work at The Arundell Arms Hotel.

Steve worked at The Arundell Arms under then Head Chef Philip Burgess (who now owns The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford). After four years he was promoted the position of Head Chef, which is his current position. For the past 6 years Steve has held the accolade of Master Chef of Great Britain for which there are only 80 in the UK.
