Frederick Hiam Ltd is a well-established Farming and Fresh Produce Business with a long and interesting history spanning over 100 years. At the age of 20 in 1892 Frederick Hiam started marketing fresh produce through Covent Garden and Spitalfields Markets in London. Our business still delivers to these 2 markets 6 nights per week.
Our farms are in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk where we grow a range of vegetables, including Potatoes, Brown & Red Onions, Parsnips, Carrots and Parsley Root.
These vegetables are grown on a range of soil types to ensure top quality and continuity of supply.
Our farming policies ensure that we are using the land responsibly and wildlife conservation is an important aspect of our practices. There are over 500 acres of land in environmental stewardship schemes. Our accreditations include Red Tractor, Field to Fork, Nurture, Global GAP and LEAF.
We have 2 pack houses located on our Brick Kiln Farm site, both of which are BRC A+ accredited.
The Frederick Hiam branded vegetable products are distributed daily throughout the UK into wholesale and foodervice customers with significant volumes of Parsnips and Parsley Root being exported throughout Europe and as far as Japan & Canada.
A recent addition to our product range has been Parsley Root, initially grown for export, we have seen increasing interest in this versatile root vegetable in the UK. Parsley Root has a very distinctive taste, with elements of Parsnip, Celeriac and Parsley in it’s flavour profile.
It is very versatile and can be cooked in the same way as Parsnips and Carrots and additionally can be eaten raw in salads or used in a remoulade.
