Richard has a passion for local produce and utilising the best of West Country seasonal ingredients and can often be seen showcasing the best of the South West’s produce at local and national food festivals throughout the year.

He has managed a variety of quality operations throughout the UK, from exclusive private clubs to central London hotels, and most recently as Executive Chef of The exclusive Wentworth Club in Surrey for 3 and a half years.

Richard is also a member of the prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts as well as the Craft Guild of Chefs and an elected member of the Institute of Hospitality and also the British Culinary Federation.

Now the Executive Chef of the 250 bedroom Courtyard by Marriott Sandy park hotel on the outskirts of Exeter and the 8th floor destination restaurant ‘The View’ and Kitchen & Bar Bistro operations.

Where the vision is to use the best local produce available from farm to sea.

Richard has appeared on various national TV programmes as well as BBC Radio,  including, Kirstie’s Homemade series, Iron Chef UK, Monster Munchies, and The Edwardian and Victorian Farms for the BBC.

He has also been a judge on many culinary competitions from National Chef of the year to operation Joint caterer competitions for the Combined Military services

His connection with the local colleges and the training of the next generation of chefs is something that Richard takes great pride in and he views this as a way of safeguarding the skills of hospitality for the future.
